Fishin’ Report — week of 09/26/24
Well the lake is really LOW… but the fishin is still GOOD..
White bass fishing very good using slabs, kastmasters, swim baits and crank baits & live shiners. Watch for the seagulls flying over feeding schools of fish. Seagulls are still the key to finding big schools of whitebass. When gulls are slow look for drop offs and ledges leading out to the main channel. Fish off the bottom wait for fish to come over the ledges or humps. Always take some binoculars looks for birds. Some good spots have been lions beach, points east of rock canyon, the flats of McRae , rattle snake and ship wreck.
Walleye fishing good around gravel bottom points leading out to the channel. Deep diving crank baits, slabs, chrome kastmasters have been productive around jet boat cove ,lions beach , McRae , south long point and ship wreck.
Crappies slow but some have been taken around large boulders and submerged brush in the back of coves using small live minnows and crappie jigs tipped with small minnow.
Large mouth and smallmouth bass good some being caught on top water lures off points and around rocky areas early to late morning using pop r, zara spook and whopper ploppers. Other options have been fishing with plastic worms , swim baits and crank baits around all types of structures. Some good catches have been reported in the upper lake although water is murkier (muddy) .
Catfish bite reported as good on cut shad and cut carp out in the channel.
Not sure what the water Gods have in store for us for the near future.. The level is really low, but not as low as we have seen recently.. just be careful..
The lake traffic has slowed considerably now that school has started and Fall has arrived..
Stephanie will have Casa Taco’s big ol’ gut grenade burritos on Saturday and Sunday Mornings.. so if it’s yur turn to cook, come getcha some..
come see us.
