FISHIN’ REPORTS WEEK OF 05/09/2024
The fishin is still very good,, we had a few slow days early this week but today was productive
Water temperature 63 in the AM and the lake level is rising daily.
Whitebass continue to be very good, watch for seagulls working out in open water from Rattle Snake Island to Rock Canyon. Drifting with live Shiners, productive lures have been slabs, kastmasters , swimbaits and trolling crankbaits and Alabama rigs. I have had reports of either all small whites or all big ones.. So if you get into an area populated with small White Bass, move.. find the bigger ones.. This morning a few folks caught nice sized White Bass on the North East side, North of the Black Bluffs. Also, on the South end on the East side of Horse Island.. That doesn’t mean that they will be there tomorrow, but a good place to start..
Crappie Are good around Kettle Top, McRae canyon and around Horse Island, target bushes and big boulders ,they seem to be going into shallow water. Small minnows and Crappie jigs working good.
Good for largemouth bass in shallow water targeting gravel banks tress and bushes, wacky worm, craw like lures are productive.
Good for walleyes in the river using jig heads with night crawlers or jig with curly tails, chartreuse seems to be color of choice.
Good for catfish on cut bait, night crawlers.
Night fishing has been good at the marinas under lights. Also any structure where you can tie up and stay put.. Live Shiners are the ticket for night fishing..
The days have been really nice, the wind is scheduled to pick up in the mid to late afternoons.. But that’s the just the forecast.. Use your head & don’t get stuck out there..
Always remember….. “Don’t let go of the vine” …. Tarzan (Johnny Weisemuller)
Stephanie will have plenty of the big ol’ breakfast burritos on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.. getcha one with your bait.. but don’t confuse the two..
