FISHIN’ REPRT FOR THE JUNIOR TOURNAMENT WEEKEND… WEEK OF 06/16
well, this is the weekend that we have the most fun… the Junior Tournament..
we will be here at 0500 in the morning to get you fresh minnows. we will have burritos and donuts so you can feed the kids an then feed the fish..
Frank Vilorio provided me with a great fishin report to help ya’
Large mouth bass and small mouth bass are good using plastic worms, white crank baits and swim baits off of points leading to deep water, fish with slow retrieve on the bottom.
White bass are good out in the channel, look for surfacing fish feeding on bait fish, throw kastmasters, inline spinners or crank baits in White or chartreuse at them.
Watch for schools pushing shad towards the back of coves. Kettle top, North and South long point good spots. Small minnows seem to be better, the Shad are spawning and there are a lot of small shad for the whites to feed on.. Live shiners are best, but if you use plastics, use the smallest grubs that you have..
Crappie are fair to good around structure, check big boulders, brush piles and back of coves holding them, good choice is live minnows and small curly tail jigs.
Walleye fishing still good on bottom bouncers with worm harness, twin tail grubs tipped with a piece of night crawler or crank bait in chartreuse, target gravel points and drop offs in 4 to 10 feet of water.
Fishing for catfish is fair to good using cut gizzard shad, cut carp, worms or weenies in upper part of lake.
We are not pre filling bait buckets. this time of year the minnows are very fragile cause they just finished spawning and the stress from shipping.. spending extra time in the bucket before being acclimated to the lake will shorten their life span. We will have extra folks on hand to keep the line moving an get you out asap… with a burrito of course..
tell mama that you gotta take the kids to the tournament…
come see us..
