FISHIN’ REPORTS WEEK OF 05823/2024
Well… The first big weekend of the year is upon us..
based on the traffic of folks arriving as of today, it should be very busy..
So if your gonna come and carve out a spot to fish.. here ya go..
Whitebass fishing is good using slabs off the bottom when seagulls start flying around Rattle snake island, McRae canyon, lions beach and hot springs landing. Trolling crankbaits, Alabama rigs and swimbait are a good option when bird activity is slow. Some top water action is also productive when observing schools bringing up shad. Top R lures and whopper ploppers work well. Also have a top water rod ready for top water action.
Some crappies being caught at night with lights in the marinas using small jigs tipped with small live minnows.
Walleyes hitting in the river using jig head with swimbait and Jig head with night crawlers casting with slow retrieve.
Large mouth and small mouth bass is good using soft plastic crawlers and wacky worm working the bank slow 3 to 6 feet. Drop off leading to deeper water are good spots. Also target large boulders leading to deep water usning a slow retrieve.
Catfish good on cut bait, shad and stink bait. Target upper part of lake where river runs in and main Channel. Coves also producing good Catfish bite over baited holes.
Thanks again to Frank Vilorio and a few old’ local fishermen for the information in this report..
